A timely video on the eve of the Chinese New Year.
Watch Master Sheng Yen touch on this topic:
What’s the significance of attending Dharma assemblies during Chinese New Year?
People go to the temple during the Lunar New Year to seek good luck and merit. This custom is a very good one in that at the beginning of the year we begin again as a person and start afresh with a new way of life by repenting our misdeeds and bad karma of the last year.
Rejoice to all going to the Monastery and Temples this Lunar New Year!
I feel that the joyous bustling activities at Dharma assemblies, especially during CNY, always set me off on a happy start of the year. With the praying and making offerings etc, I always feel that my year will be smooth with the protection from the Buddha, and it also reminds me to continue to do as much virtuous deeds as I can in the coming year.
