Not sure why some people can recall their previous lives. Some chinese believe that when people pass away, they will walk to this bridge where an old lady will ask them to drink a bowl of water which will erase all memories of their previous lives and then go for reincarnation. Maybe some people manage to sneak pass through the old lady?
