How to change bad habits?

Venerable Ru De provides some pointers.

From my note taking of the discourse. the 4 pointers are:

  • 常常祈求或祈祷 / supplicate or pray often if you are religious
  • 思维它的过患,跟改过来的好处,胜利。它坏在哪里,你要知道。这个事情会造成我们什么样的后果,我越清楚我挡它的力量越强。/ recognise the harm in the habit and see the benefit of changing.
  • 累积资粮,福报来回向 / dedicate the merits of your positive actions towards the changing of your habit
  • 有好的环境 / get a good environment
