I googled what Master Sheng Yen had to say on this
Buddhism speaks of causes and conditions instead of a Creator God, or the idea that God created the universe. It acknowledges the existence of deities, ghosts, and all kinds of spirits, considers them as various types of sentient beings, and sees them equally.
